May 17, 2020

To the Parents, Volunteers and Players of District 1 Vancouver West Side; We continue to monitor the impacts of COVID-19 on the 2020 Little League season. Directions on return to play protocols from the Provincial Health Officer and other government bodies are evolving. The timing of a return to play for baseball remains uncertain but it’s apparent that it is still several weeks away.

Little League International, Little League Canada and Little League BC have cancelled all tournaments for the 2020 season. In light of these cancelations and the uncertain timing of a return to play, the leagues of District 1 have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 spring season and prepare for a possible summer season.

Your league will be providing information regarding refunds for the 2020 spring season. For each league’s refund policy, please contact the league directly.

We appreciate that everyone’s situation is unique. Once suitable return to play protocols are approved by the appropriate authorities, some players and volunteers will be anxious to immediately return to play. Others may have plans that make it impossible for them to participate in a summer season.

Cancelling the 2020 spring season now, will allow our players and parents to consider their plans for the summer. Once return to play protocols are established, our leagues will announce their plans for a summer season. At that time, they will accept new registrations.

For now, stay home and stay safe!
