Mini Minor Division
6-7 year olds (in grade 1)
The Mini Minor Division is designed for new and returning players. The fundamentals in the “Intro to Baseball” format are continued with skill development and a fun game environment. Skills developed include: Throwing, Catching, Hitting, Running and Teamwork. During the weekly Practice Sessions, Team Coaches are provided lesson plans and league supported coach assistance. Practices are all teams together with skill building stations.
Games will be played on Saturdays on a rotating schedule. Every player bats every inning and is encouraged to try all fielding positions. At the beginning of the season, the ball is placed on a tee rather than pitched. As the season progresses, players will learn how to hit from a slow pitching machine with softer baseballs. Players will also learn the concept of “outs” and competitive play is introduced. No standings are kept at this age group.
There are 8-11 players on each team. A Team shirt (uniform) is provided. Friend requests are permitted and we do our best to accommodate at least one friend request per player.
Season starts week of April 6, 2020 and ends June 13, 2020.
2 sessions per week:
- 1 Practice on Thursday evenings at 6:00-7:00 pm
- 1 Game on Saturday afternoons on a rotating schedule, possibly the occasional Monday or Tuesday ‘make-up games’.
There are no sessions on the Easter and May long weekends.
Mini-Minor is NOT a drop-off activity. An adult must stay at the park for the duration of each session. Parents will be placed on a rotational schedule to help with bench and snack duties for the Saturday game sessions.
