KLL 2020 Mandatory Pre-season Assessment Information for all KLL Players wishing to play Minor A and Majors Divisions
Before starting the season KLL must evaluate ALL new and returning players wanting to play in Minor A and the Majors so they can be drafted onto teams in their respective divisions. Only players wishing to play Minor A and Majors need to be assessed. If you are unsure if your child needs to assess, please contact the Minors or Major Coordinator for more information.
During registration, you have an option to choose either Saturday or Sunday. We do our best to accommodate everyones first choice but due to the limited space we can not guarantee your first choice.
The assessments will start with the younger players progressing to the older players in the afternoon.
These assessments help us to place your child appropriately. Please bring your player dressed in suitable clothing (long pants and long sleeved shirts) with good running shoes (no baseball cleats). Don't forget the required batting helmet and baseball glove.
Pre-Season Assessments, what to expect:
Independent assessors will run the stations and rank the players in the following areas:
2. Throwing and Fielding (catching, but not fly balls)
3. Batting (bunting may be added for the Majors players)
For Minor B players hoping to move up to Minor A, these assessments are required. For parents and players new to the assessment process, please be assured that assessments are not try-outs. Once all the players have been accessed, the players' scores will be used by the League to determine draft position, suitability for respective divisions, and team balancing. There will be a Majors Draft and Minor A Draft once the assessments are completed.
Players who assess for Majors, and are not drafted to a Majors team, will be drafted to a Minor A team. How much space is available in Minor A for Minor B players wishing to move up will not be known until the completion of the Majors Draft.
To help move your child through the assessment process quickly (estimated time 40 minutes per player), we have divided player groups by age into designated time slots. These are fixed times and KLL is unfortunately unable to accommodate changes. Please arrive 10 minutes before your assigned time slot to check in.
Those who are unable to attend their designated date and time slot will be required to attend a make-up session at a later date (tbc). Please advise your division coordinator if this applies to you.
Venue, dates and times for assessments to be announced.
If you have any questions, please contact your division coordinator.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
