Communication and Timing of All-Star and Select Team Formation

Teams will be announced on or about June 12th and practices and exhibition games will begin immediately thereafter.

Team Formation Process and Criteria

There will be open evaluations held in early June.   Players will be selected to these teams based on the following factors:

  • Evaluation of play during the regular season and feedback from all coaches in each division for the regular season
  • Assessment during open evaluations from independent third party assessors (see below for dates)
  • The All-Star/Select team Coach will have input in selections taking into account specific positional requirements for the respective team

Decisions will be based upon several factors including eligibility, skills, performance during both the regular season and open evaluations, sportsmanship, and availability through to the end of the All Stars/Selects schedule.  If for some reason, a player is unable to attend the evaluation sessions, they can still be placed on a team as there are other components to the overall selection process.

Open Evaluations

11's - June 3 - 4:30-6:30 pm at Elm Park (for all players baseball age 11)

12's - June 3 - 6:30-8:30 pm at Elm Park (for all players baseball age 12)

To keep the numbers for each assessment session to a manageable size, all players will be assessed in the group which represents their "baseball age".  All players will be considered for every team that they are eligible for by age.  For instance, 11's will be considered for the 11/12 All-star team as well as the Selects 11's team.

Information Meeting for Parents

For parents of players who are interested in the All-Stars/Selects programs, there will be an information meeting on Monday, May 9th.  The meetings will be held at the Lawn Bowling Clubhouse at Elm Park.

6:30 pm for parents of players who are baseball age 9 or 10 (born between May 1 2005 and August 31 2007)

7:30 pm for parents of players who are baseball age 11 or 12 (born between May 1 2003 and April 30 2005)

Coaches

Head Coaches for the All-Star/Select teams will be selected by the KLL Board based on applications made by May 31.

All-Star and Select Team Fees

Players that are placed on a team will be required to pay an additional fee.  These fees will be based on any additional costs for the team such as customized caps, jerseys, etc.  The range for these fees have traditionally been $50-$250 depending on the specific team. No player will be denied the opportunity to play on any of these teams if the fee might prevent them from doing so.
